PARENTAL CONTROL

PARENTAL CONTROL

Thanks to MTV, frustrated parents will once again get the chance to kick their kid's loser boyfriends and girlfriends to the curb!

MTV gives parents a chance to interfere in their children's relationship. Do you think parents know who's the best choice for their child? Should they play match makers? If not where do you think do people find their true soulmates these days?

  1. I don't think that parents should play match makers.
They often have different associations about the 'perfect' partners and their children should have the right to manage something without their parents and fall in love.
Furthermore the parents might be blamed for problems that come around in the later life of the 'arranged' couple.

  2. Personally I also think that parents shouldn't play Match Makers, because parents don't know what the preference for their children are. Kids know who they want in life and they should be intitled to make the decision on who they want, not the parents

  3. I agree with Elisabeth when she said that parents shouldn't have all the control when it comes to their kids relationships. They should be able to figure out for themselves who's right for them and they will learn from their own mistakes. I also agree with troubles caused by arranged marriages. Parents should just stay out of it and just support their kids on their decisions.

  4. I agree. Parents are guaranteed to pick someone who shares more qualities with a nun than with their kid. Plus, they made plenty of bad decisions when they were our age and learned from them, so why can't we do the same? It may be fun to watch on TV, but I think we'd all agree that if our parents decided to try and get rid of our boyfriends/girlfriends, just hope they don't put it on MTV.

  5. I would not want my parents to arrange my marriage because they have the opposite guy in mind for me. My parents like the skinny type. Guys that have no muscle and have no sense of whats good for them and whats not. I like a guy that is a little bit built and likes to keep himself in shape and not spend his time sitting on the couch eating potato chips all day. My parents are very old fashioned so I wouldn't be surprised if they pick someone old fashioned just like them.

  6. I agree with all your opinions and there´s nothing else to add. I´m sure parents just always want the best for their children, but the day will come when they´re old enough to make their own decisions and get bad and good experiences. Also I think parents always have a different mind of a "perfect" boyfriend/girlfriend than the teens.
Furthermore do you think these shows are reality? I don´t. Definitely there are many parents who don´t like their childrens boyfriends/girlfriends, maybe some who don´t accept them, but on MTV it´s all a bit exaggerated.

  7. I don't think that these shows real, because it's easy to see that these people are bad actors.
You are right that it's exaggerated and either no parent would ever search for a better boy/girlfriend on MTV.
Still the show can be funny to watch sometimes.

  8. I think, there's something wrong in the relationship between parents and their children if they are solving their problems on MTV. That means they are in fact unable talk to each other, or they're extremely eager of appearing on a TV-show.
Fortunately the times when marriages were arranged by parents belong to the past. (At least in our culture....)
Lots of people were quite unhappy in the past, remember Romeo and Julia???
But even if parents don't agree with their children's choice, they are entitled to make their arguments clear, but they should never try to get rid of their children boyfriend/girlfriend.
That would only bring out the opposite, by the way. Parents should remember the times when they were young.

  9. I also agree with all your opinions !
Especially with Joni's ! I think they're also get money to take part in those TV-shows( my goodness). That's really sad to see what people do for money...by now parents disrupt the relationships from their childrens only because they don't like their partner. How bad is this?^^ Sooner or later , as I see it,parents will be sorry for this if they see their child unhappy with a partner who's perfect for them, but not for him/ her !
However, happily there are familys who accept the child's boyfriend/girlfriend ( whether they like him/her or not :D ) . A good question is where people find their real love.. maybe on holidays or in discos ,but I think most of them find their biiiiig big love on first sight on the Internet ( at first sight after the first date haha) :) And then, after they found it, they lived happily ever after , without mixing in by the parents. And honestly it must be the greatest present for partens if they see their child happy in love, isn't it ? ;)

  10. I don't think that parents should make any decisions on who there daughter or son date. Parents should just leave it up to their kid to make decisions of their own. If they date someone that the parents don't approve of its not the parents who are dating them. So i just say let them date who they want.
